The magnetic charm of the voice

The seductive power of the voice can be so great that it's almost "magical". If you need convincing, just think of the sound of the warm, powerful, confidence-inspiring voices that are so widely used in radio adverts.

There are also the calm, soft and charming voices of receptionists. You can even fall in love with a very warm-sounding voice on the phone.

To develop a really charming and attractive voice, it's important to talk clearly, confidently and quietly, to have a really steady way of speaking, with lots of pauses to allow your interlocutors to butt in and say something whenever they want to.

Try to find what's called the "right tone", which comes from the heart. This will be easy if your tone reflects a genuine interest in the other person. You should try to make your voice sound gentle, clear, warm.

You can even speak in that low and level tone, like a murmur. If you address your conversation partners like this, you will make them feel secure. You will reassure them.

While you are talking, your gaze should always remain direct, gentle and firm, your face relaxed. You'll soon get the hang of it, with a bit of practice.

Exercise: Imagine that you're talking to a sweet little child you know well. Adopt the same gentle tone you would use in this case. Through the way you express yourself, you want to give this child the impression that you like him.

Stand in front of your mirror, and pretend you're speaking to him in a calm, steady, friendly tone. This child has no desire to judge you. You feel at ease while you are addressing him. Talk about a subject you know well.

Remember to really relax the muscles in your forehead, your eyes, your cheeks, your mouth, tongue and throat. Then you will find that your voice immediately becomes warmer, more magnetic, more charming.
