Body language and charm

Movement, general demeanour and bearing have always played an important role in human communication, though certain general impressions are sometimes subconscious.

Do you know what studies have shown?

That only seven per cent (7%) of what we communicate is conveyed through our words, while thirty eight per cent (38%) comes from the tone we use when we speak!

But fifty five per cent (55%) of what we communicate comes from what we express with our movements, which create an effective "body language".

Yes, it's amazing but the greater part of our communication (nearly two thirds), comes from the expressions that flit across our faces, the gestures we make and the way we move when we are talking to other people.

Our movements are therefore very important when it comes to being charming. Brusque, impulsive, jerky, nervous gestures are less likely to convey an impression of magnetism and charm.

Be aware of your movements, train yourself to behave in a calm and tranquil way in front of others, and your natural charm will already be greatly enhanced.

Above all, avoid crossing your arms: this is what's called a "closed" position. It sends a subconscious message to others to "keep your distance". It's also a sign of impatience, lack of interest or disagreement, all of which discourage other people from opening up and confiding in you.
