The Mayan Calendars

The Mayans had a system of very precise calendars. Everybody has heard of the famous Mayan Calendar, extremely precise, our computers not having more precision to offer than the one of this calendar. For example, their year counted 365,2420 days, an error of only 0,0002 day. It is even more precise than the Gregorian Calendar (365,2425) introduced in Europe at 1582. We know today that the exact numbers is 365,2422 jours.

The calendar also served to designate the moment some past or future event had or was to occur. Some Mayan monuments for example, contains the dates of events having occurred some 90 millions years before, while others predicts future events which are to occur 3000 years later!
