this ancient conjuration is for magnetising, in other
words, placing your hands over the part of the body that is diseased, painful
or inflamed. Speak the following words with conviction: « Jesus said to his apostles: hold your hands
out over the sick and they shall be cured. Jesus, son of Mary, Saviour of the
World and Our Lord, be kind and merciful to me, through the actions of Saint
Vincent and all the Saints. May it be so! » Saint Vincent is the
patrons saints of patron winemakers, but the reason why he figures in this
prayer is that while he was cruelly tortured he responded by singing, laughing
and joking with his torturer. Saint Augustin said of him: « In his
tenacity, I can see the power of God. » This is the sort of power we need
to fight disease.
