This is called the Svadhisthana or Sacral
Chakra. It is situated in the abdomen, just under the navel, between the
fifth lumbar vertebra and the first sacral vertebra. It is linked to the
reproductive organs: the ovaries or testicles.
It is associated with the element
"Water", the source of all biological life, and with the sense of taste.
Water fertilises and, in Creation, brings forth new life. Thanks to the Sacral
Chakra, the individual is connected with the fertilising and receptive energies
of Nature.
Water is also a purifying element. It
dissolves and carries away everything which is "solidified". On a
physical level, this means detoxification and elimination via the kidneys and
the bladder. On a psychic level, you feel this chakra by "loosening your grip" and "letting go" of your feelings, in order to
be prepared to renew your life, so that it is constantly being started afresh
in a spontaneous way.
This is the chakra of the past, the family,
procreation, sensuality, the pleasures of life (eating, etc.). It's through
this chakra that you can "feel" the sacred aspect of existence. Our
dealings with others, and especially the opposite sex, are profoundly affected
by this Sacral Chakra. It is responsible for constantly creating contact with
others, and it influences relationships and the emotional side of life.
