January 2012 Pentacle

• It’s important to celebrate the start of the New Year, if you want it to fulfil all the promise it holds! I recommend you keep the January Pentacle on you for the whole of the month, to protect you against negativity, jealousy and malice. A pentacle is an object of power, opening a channel of communication between you and the higher, superior forces. It’s designed to pick up lucky vibrations and harness them in your favour, so you can achieve all the goals you’ve set yourself. A pentacle is personal and cannot be used by any person other than you. You can start making your pentacle on January 1. If you make your pentacle using a quill pen you will have a closer bond with the tradition, and it will be powerfully charged with your vibrations, hopes and most cherished desires. Your concentration will be more intense.

You will need: You will need: - a piece of white card measuring 10cm x 10cm, ideally a square of vegetable or animal parchment – a quill pen with black ink – a white candle.

The Ritual: Light the white candle then say these words: « With this flame I light up my soul in the light of the Sun; ray of truth, ray of knowledge, ray of nature, be with me in my endeavours, in my mind and my being. May the triple candle of grace light up my soul and protect me from problems and jealousies. May the strength of the light drive my work and empower my pentacle, so it may have the strength to make my dreams come true. This is my will! »

Draw the pentacle in one line, without stopping. Draw the 1st circle then the second. Draw the central cross and continue with the 5-point stars. Finish by writing in the magical names and signs.

Place your hands over it and say the following blessing: « True receiver of the ebb-tide, I take in that which has been spent and can never be spent again. Find a place, through the mysterious turn of the tide, the ebbing of the sea, to cleanse my shores.
Great and good source of flux, send me all that I need to these shores, knowing how I drift, may your long wave be generous. Through the rich gift of the tide, I will lack for nothing. As I wish so may it come to pass. »

To finish, sign the back and write down, in just a few words, your hopes and priorities. Keep it on you for the whole of the month of January. Pick it up often and think of your hopes. At the end of the month, burn it in the flame of a white candle.

• The weekly planets: up until the 18^th the planet Saturn will have the upper hand, ceding to Uranus. Saturn speaks of perseverance, research, knowledge, goals to be worked towards and science, but also of solitude, difficulty, reticence, misfortune, long-term goals, obstacles and challenges. Uranus represents a sense of modernity, innovation and perhaps rebellion against the existing models and structures.

• Your Lunar Calendar:

On the 1^st and the 2^nd, the Moon in Aries may leave you feeling unsettled and drive you to want to do too much. Don’t take the risk. After the party season is over, your skin may feel the effects of fatigue and excess. Now’s a good time for a revitalising, toning face mask.

On January 3^rd and 4^th, the Moon in Taurus will inspire you to immerse yourself in your business affairs and accounts and will certainly see you get rid of the dead wood that is weighing you down. The 3^rd is a good day for getting your hair cut.

On the 5^th, 6^th and 7^th, the Moon in Gemini will see you keen to get out of the house. Meet up with relations or catch up with old friends you haven’t seen for a while. You may find you’ll make new contacts that will stand you in good stead in the future. Make time to study and refine the new plans you make.
