A simple explanation of how numerology works

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF NUMEROLOGY


There are 9 essential numbers: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9.
0 is not taken into account.
For numbers above 9, a “theosophical reduction” is used to obtain
the secret value of the number. This is done by adding each of
the figures in the number to obtain a single figure, lower than or
equal to 9.
Thus 15 becomes 1 + 5 = 6 and 129 becomes 3 (1 + 2 + 9 = 12
and then 1 + 2 = 3).
However, the numbers 11, 22, 33 must be given special
consideration as these are master numbers, which means they
are invested with their own particular symbolism.


THE CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN NUMBERS AND LETTERS


Pythagoras was the first to formalise the system of corresponding
letters and numbers. Based on the principle that A corresponds to
1, B to 2, each letter has a corresponding number, depending on
its place in the alphabet.
For ease of reference, these Pythagorean correspondences can be
presented in table form. This table will enable you to find the
numbers corresponding to the surnames and first names of your
close relatives quickly and easily.
