Visualisation is the art of consciously and purposefully
building the clearest possible images in your mind.
building the clearest possible images in your mind.
The Ancient Greeks were the uncontested masters of visualisation. Their understanding of visualisation was very highly developed, and they believed it played a major role in accessing health and beauty. In Ancient Greece, when a woman was expecting a child, statutes of Venus and Apollo were placed in her room. They believed that having these beautiful images constantly in her sight would have an impact on her physical condition and endow the child with the beauty of the God and Goddess.
According to the rule, when you visualise an object you must observe it in all its detail, noting its shape, colour, weight, texture, smell, etc. Then close your eyes and draw on your memory faculties.
Daily experience has proven beyond doubt that people tend to see things without really looking at them. Tests have been carried out on hardened smokers who have been buying the same brand for years. The average smoker « sees » his pack of cigarettes about 20 times a day, which is more than 7,000 times a year. That means that over a ten year period, the smoker will pick up the pack to take out a cigarette 70,000 times. Yes if you asked them to describe the design or the writing on the pack, they would be quite incapable of doing so!In other words, most of our actions and gestures are subconscious, and our memory skills grow weaker.
It is absolutely vital that you learn to be open to the world around you and stop functioning like a robot. Our aim here is to re-educate you in the art of visualisation, yet visualisation will not be of any use to you if you’re incapable of recreating in your mind the features of someone you’ve just met moments before. We mustn’t forget that thought is a tool that allows us to build images in our mind. This is also a creation of the mind.
When you recreate someone’s features, you are creating an image in your mind that will resonate with that person. This is a fundamental rule, known by every practitioner of hypnotic induction. From the moment you call up, in your mind, a person and the place where they live, you initialise a process of visualisation. This may lead to psychic projection or, in other words, the externalisation of your « inner self » and the higher levels of your psyche.
