It’s important to know that the cosmic energy obeys the law of Polarity, in other words, it turns around an axis that, in this case, is that of "Giving-Receiving".
Basically, knowing how to receive is just as important as knowing how to give. Receiving something with grace is an expression of the dignity of giving. People who do not know how to receive are actually incapable of giving. Giving and receiving are two sides of the same coin, two aspects of the universal cosmic energy at work.
Giving and receiving are also not limited to material things. If you can be gracious about a compliment, or somebody’s admiration or respect, this implicitly means you are capable of complimenting, admiring or respecting others. An absence of respect, courtesy or admiration actually creates a state of poverty…whatever the state of your finances!
So open your heart and your mind, Practice receiving. Give those around you the chance to give and you will see that they are happy to do so. The way you give will improve, in return.
And, by redistributing a small part of what you earn, or by offering your services, you will open up a beneficial channel for attracting money and good things. In fact, when you give, a vacuum is created that will draw back even more than you have given – this is what we call the Law of Providence: "The more you give the more you shall receive".
As long as you carry on giving, you will carry on receiving. And the more you develop your potential, the more riches will come to you… and this wealth will be proportional to your generosity. It is impossible to light up someone’s path unless you yourself are walking in the light.
Thinking of prosperity as an opportunity to give shows that you have correctly assimilated the "giving-receiving" principle which is the very foundation of material and mental wealth. You will also recognise the value of human interactions and respect their diversity. Helping and supporting others will give your life meaning, while idolising money will never fulfil you.
The help you give others need not necessarily be limited to the material kind, it may also be intellectual. Benjamin Disraeli said: The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own.
Every time you have the opportunity, help others draw on their own resources, show them how they can help themselves. Consider this truth: "If you give someone a fish, he can eat for a day. If you teach someone to fish, he can eat for a lifetime".
Many associations need capable people to give them advice; there’s a good example of how you can share your know-how, your experience.
One more thing: never fail to thank the Universe, acknowledge all those who help you and always be sincere in your gratitude. The expression of gratitude is a very powerful force that generates more of what you have already received.
People are more and more insatiable; they always want more, bigger and better. But prosperity is not a sport, a competition in which you have to be richer than your neighbour. If you succumb to this tendency, inner peace will always evade you. You will always be looking to find yourself because you will make only very limited room in your life for spiritual values; you will end up ‘poor of spirit’.
