Many of the virtues and maleficences that have been attributed to the Moon have, in modern times, become considered to be superstitions. The influence of the Moon has gained recognition in many domains though. It is well know by obstetricians and psychiatrists that there are more births and acts of madness during the full Moon, than otherwise. Gardeners too, are very much aware of the lunar impact on the growth and production of their garden. And when you consider the impact the Moon has on tides, you can clearly understand the impact it has on people, considering the 70% of water they are made up of.
Some superstitions claims that it is a good time for fishing, could it be because of the plankton mounting to the surface then, attracted to the light? During the time of Mary of Medicis it was thought that boys were conceived during rising Moon and girls during waxing Moon. The impact of the Moon upon women has never been contested either...
